Two former Rocket football players have signed free agent contracts with NFL teams, just hours after the 2009 NFL draft. Former wide receiver Nick Moore has signed with the Minnesota Vikings, while former free safety/defensive back Tyrrell Herbert has signed with the Buffalo Bills.   Full Story

Mitch Maier on Thursday was recalled by the Royals from Triple-A Omaha, taking Alex Gordon’s place on the 25-man roster. Gordon, who missed two games earlier this week, was placed on the disabled list with a labral cartilage tear. He will undergo surgery of Friday, at which point a timetable for his return to Kansas City should be announced.   Full Story

Nick Moore led the Toledo Rockets in receptions as a senior in 2008 with 78 catches for 779 yards and one touchdown. He had 182 receptions for 2045 yards and 13 touchdowns in his career at Toledo, ranking him as one of the best receivers in Rocket history. Now he looks to make it in the NFL.   Full Story

Former University of Toledo wide receiver Andrew Hawkins has signed a free agent contract with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL. Andrew was a senior at Toledo in 2007, catching 29 passes for 246 yards and rushing for 54 yards and a touchdown.   Full Story
