Jake Ryan Down to Four

Jake Ryan Down to Four

Cleveland St. Ignatius linebacker Jake Ryan had a big year in 2009, earning Ohio Division I First Team linebacker by the Associated Press. He helped lead St. Ignatius to the Regional Semi-Finals and an 11-1 record, but now Ryan is focused on his future, and has narrowed his list to four schools. Read on to find out who they are.

The University of Toledo began recruiting Cleveland St. Ignatius linebacker Jake Ryan vigorously over the summer. The 6-3, 200 pounder visited Toledo for an unofficial visit on July 10th. Ever since then, Toledo co-defensive coordinator Mike Ward (his recruiting coach at Toledo) and the Rocket staff have been keeping in touch with Ryan as one of the top defensive targets on their recruiting board.

Ryan, who has 4.57 speed and bench presses 300 pounds, helped Cleveland St. Ignatius to the Ohio Division I Regional Semifinals before losing to Cleveland Glenville, a team they beat during the regular season, 30-13. St Ignatius finished the season 11-1.

Ryan was named First Team All-Ohio by the Associated Press, for his performance on the field this fall. He is rated as a three star prospect by Rivals.

Rocket Digest recently caught up with Ryan to get an update on his recruitment. "It's going well," Ryan said. He added, "I visited Ball State last weekend and I really liked it."

Ryan told Rocket Digest that he still has two more official visits, one of them to Toledo. He will visit Toledo this weekend, and then his final official visit is to Ohio University the first weekend of January.

Ryan has offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan, Ohio University, and Toledo. However, with his official visits winding down, Ryan has narrowed his list to four schools. They are Ball State, Central Michigan, Ohio University, and Toledo. He will likely wait until after his visit to Ohio in January before making a commitment.

Rocket Digest will follow up with Jake Ryan after his visit to Toledo this weekend, to get his impressions.
