The University of Toledo Lady Rockets basketball program received two signed, national letters of intent during the early signing period. Detroit Southeastern teammates Janelle Reed-Lewis and Mariah Carson have both signed with Toledo.

Janelle Reed-Lewis is a 5-7 guard from Detroit Southeastern High School. "She's a combo guard," said Toledo assistant coach Nitro Perry. "She can play the 1 and 2 spots."

Reed-Lewis committed to Coach Tricia Cullop and her staff in mid-October. Mariah Carson is a 6-2, 173 pound forward/center from Detroit Southeastern High School. Carson committed to Toledo back in June, when she chose the Rockets over offers from Indiana, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and IUPUI.

Carson averaged 28.4 points per game as a junior last season, helping Southeastern to a 19-5 record. Michigan Girls Basketball Report (MGBR.com) has Mariah listed as their pre-season Ms. Michigan for basketball this year. She told Rocket Digest in June that Toledo is recruiting her as a center, but she can also play forward.

With three seniors on the roster this year, the Lady Rockets will likely sign one more prospect during the regular signing period, which runs from April 14th through May 19th of 2010.
