Lady Rockets head basketball coach Tricia Cullop is back with her latest blog on Rocket Digest. This time the blog emphasizes the start of official practices, an update on the Lady Rockets' commitment to the community, and more. Read on to read the latest blog from Coach Cullop.
Official Practice Starts Friday
We are looking forward to Friday! October 16th is our first official day to start to practice. Our short pre-season basketball workouts have been going well, but we are very anxious to have more time to work on details. Our staff does feel we are further along than we were last year at this time, but we still have a lot do before we are prepared for that first game.
Because we appreciate so much what this community does for us, we have made it our mission to help as much with volunteer efforts as we can. This past month our players were busy volunteering their time to two great causes. First of all, they helped assemble gift baskets for the Ovarian Walk. Next, our players ran a water station at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. We are already nailing down information for the next Komen benefit basketball game for this season. We were thrilled with the participation last year and hope this event will continue to grow.
Just as a reminder, October 15th we will be hosting a fundraising event for UT men’s and women’s basketball at the Ohio Building downtown (corner of Madison & Superior). Tickets are $50/person and $75/couple. There will be great food, music, and fun! All proceeds of the event will be used for enhancements for the MBB and WBB programs of UT. For more information or to RSVP, call

419-530-2363. Hope to see you there!
Soon you’ll be seeing sign-up sheets at your local Wendy’s for our Lil Dribblers program. Grade school kids will be taught a dribbling routine to perform at a selected halftime games. You’ll also find more information on our website. This will be a fun and exciting opportunity for kids to get out on the court and show their skills!
