RocketDigest.com Staff Predictions

The Rockets look to get back to .500 on the season when they host the Colorado Buffaloes on Friday night at the Glass Bowl. How will the Rockets do? Our staff here at RocketDigest.com has their picks in as to how we think the game will play out. Will UT win in Beckman's home opener?
Bret's Prediction
Both
Colorado
and
Toledo
must have been hoping for a stronger start to the 2009 season. Which team will bounce back better? It could go either way.
Toledo seemed to settle down in the second half against
Purdue
, but turnovers were costly and the inability to stop the run became lethal. The Rockets must limit big plays on the ground or week two will be a repeat performance of week one.
Offensively the team moved the ball well if it can limit turnovers. Getting DaJuane Collins move involved is a must, but if Toledo avoids the 21-0 hole this week that shouldn't be a problem. With that said, I'm still too concerned about the lack of size along the defensive line.
Prediction: 30-27 Colorado
Brian's Prediction
Darrell Scott
is a dangerous return man and running back for the Colorado Buffaloes. Toledo's rush defense will need to improve dramatically over game one if the Rockets are going to be able to keep Scott in check. Meanwhile,
Aaron Opelt
and the Rocket offense should have a big day. Colorado has a couple of good cornerbacks, but are inexperienced at the safety positions. Watch for
Eric Page
to have another huge game in the slot position with a safety or linebacker covering him.
Prediction: 38-30 Rockets
Paul's Prediction
Expecting a shootout! The bigger question is what will the atmosphere be like for the first home game with Beckman at the helm?
Prediction: 44-37 Rockets
Tom's Prediction
Since I was so on-target with my forecast of a low-scoring, high-turnover opener . . . .
Prediction: 30-21 Rockets
