Brian's Blog: Summer Workouts End

Brian's Blog: Summer Workouts End

Last night concluded summer workouts for the Rocket football team. The team ended the summer with a Midnight Mayhem workout. The conclusion of summer workouts mean that fall camp is right around the corner. This week's edition of Brian's Blog talks about that as well as remaining tickets for the UT/OSU football game and more.

Last night the Rockets concluded summer workouts with a Midnight Mayhem session. Coaches are not allowed to attend the summer workouts per NCAA regulations, however every school does them with their Strength and Conditioning coaches overseeing the workouts instead of coaches.

Toledo's Director of Speed, Strength, and Conditioning is Rick Court. He is in his first year in charge of the conditioning of the football players at Toledo and he has brought the same energetic rush that head coach Tim Beckman and his staff bring to the program.

Last night's Midnight Mayhem workout was something new for UT players that have been on the team for past summer workouts. With the conclusion of the summer workouts, UT football players have a week to go back home and see family and friends before coming back to campus for fall camp.

The remaining tickets for Toledo's game against Ohio State at Cleveland Browns Stadium will go on sale to the public on Monday. Tickets will only be sold at the UT Athletic Office at Savage Arena, no online or phone orders will be taken. The doors to the ticket office will open at 8:30am and the ticket office itself will open and begin selling the tickets at 9:00am.

Approximately 6,500 end zone tickets remain, with ticket prices set at either $45 or $55 per ticket. Only cash, Visa, or Mastercard will be accepted as payment.

If you plan on going to purchase some of these tickets, get there early. The UT Media Office is encouraging those that get there before 8:30am to line up on the east side entrance of the Sullivan Athletic Complex. My guess is that the tickets will go fast.

The second half of the summer recruiting season is going on in basketball. UT men's head coach Gene Cross has been in Las Vegas the past couple of days watching prospects play in tournaments. On the women's side, head coach Tricia Cullop has been in Kentucky watching prospects.

In alumni news, congratulations to former UT football player Andrew Hawkins for a great performance on Spike TV's 4th and Long. Hawkins finished in the top three of the show. Rocket Digest is proud of "Hawk" and his performance. He is now under contract with Montreal of the CFL, but still has hopes of the NFL. Good luck Hawk!

Just 12 days until Toledo opens fall football camp. Football is definitely in the air! Recommended Stories
