QB Has UT on Narrowed List

The Rocket coaching staff has been hard at work to find the type of athletic quarterback to run their spread offense. In their first recruiting class at Toledo, Coach Beckman and his staff brought in two athletic QB's that can run and throw. For the 2010 class the staff is in on several prospects, but one in particular has narrowed his list and UT is still on it.
Dwight Macon
is a 6-0, 190 pound quarterback from Steubenville High school in Ohio. He has offers from
Ball State
,
Bowling Green
,
Toledo
,
Central Michigan
,
Kansas
,
Kansas State
, and
Wyoming
.
The three star prospect, which is the #72 ranked quarterback prospect in the nation, recently narrowed his list down a bit. It has been reported that Macon is down to Ball State, Bowling Green, and Toledo. Rocket Digest recently caught up with Macon to find out more.
"Sort of, but I still have an interest in other schools, especially Central Michigan," Macon said when asked if the earlier report of him being down to Ball State, Bowling Green, and Toledo was correct. Macon is hoping to make his final decision and a commitment before his season starts this fall.
Toledo assistant coach Jason Candle is recruiting Dwight Macon for the Rockets. While some schools are recruiting Macon as an athlete, Toledo is recruiting him as a quarterback.
Last season Macon passed for 2,424 yards and 28 touchdowns, while only throwing four interceptions and completing 66% of his passes. He also rushed for 837 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. This was off the heels of a 1,290 yard rushing season as a sophomore in 2007. He also passed for 1,666 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2007.
Stay tuned to Rocket Digest as we keep you updated on Dwight Macon and where the Rockets stand in his list of favorites.
