Toledo
,
Purdue
,
Rutgers
,
Miami
University,
East Carolina
,
Kansas State
,
UCLA
, and FIU are the main schools recruiting Stokes, along with the two that have offered him.
Assistant coach Eli Rasheed is recruiting Stokes for Toledo. Coach Rasheed was the defensive line coach at
Florida Atlantic
before accepting the same position at Toledo over the winter. "Coach Rasheed seemed like a cool guy and a good coach, and Toledo is a school I would strongly consider playing at," Stokes recently told Rocket Digest.
This summer Stokes is considering a visit to
Michigan State
for a camp. He's also currently planning on official visits to Arkansas and Liberty in the fall.
That said, Matt has not formed any favorites yet. "I'm pretty much open and undecided right now." And in terms of making a commitment, he does not have a timeline. "After I take my officials and visit all the campuses and coaching staffs, and deliberate with my family."
Stokes mentioned that he is spending his summer working on his technique, as well as his stength and conditioning. He's already got good size with 250 pounds on a 6-2 frame He also has very decent speed with a 4.8 forty yard dash under his belt. In the classroom, Stokes holds a 4.22 GPA.
Stay tuned to Rocket Digest over the summer and into the fall to see if Matt Stokes receives a scholarship offer from the Toledo Rockets, and to see where they stand in his list as he continues to evaluate possible schools to play college football.
