The Toledo Rockets shot just 29.2% from the field and had no scorers in double figures in a dissapointing 50-35 loss to a Wright State team that had not won a game in six previous tries to start the season.
Dayton, OH
- The
Toledo
Rockets shot just 29.2% from the field and had no scorers in double figures in a dissapointing 50-35 loss to a Wright State team that had not won a game in six previous tries to start the season.
Jonathon Amos was the lone bright spot for Toledo, scoring 9 points on 50% shooting while also going 1 for 1 from the free throw line.
Ridley Johnson
added 8 points,
Anthony Byrd
scored 5 points,
Clayton Sterling
and Mohamed Lo each added 4 points,
Tyrone Kent
chipped in with 3 points, and
Justin Anyijong
added 2 points for Toledo.
The Rockets managed just 16 first half points, but only trailed 20-16 at halftime. The 2nd half was just as unkind for the Rockets defensively as it was offensively. Toledo managed just 19 points and gave up 30 to Wright State.
Wright State shot just 37.7% from the field and was just 1 for 19 from the three point line. They also were just a mere 56.3% from the foul line, yet they beat Toledo by 15 points for their first win of the season.
Once again Toledo's offense failed to generate many fouls on the opposing team. Toledo shot just 6 foul shots in the entire game, but this was an improvement from the zero free throw attempts at Oakland on Sunday. Wright State had 16 free throw attempts tonight against the Rockets.
Toledo is just 2-7 now on the season, and the schedule does not get any easier than playing a previously winless Wright State. Toledo is back home at Savage Arena though for their next game against
Houston
on Saturday, December 20th. In fact, four of the next five games will be at home for Toledo.
