It's hard to believe that two Division I FBS schools that are only 45 minutes apart have never played in football before, but it is true. Well, sort of. Toledo did host Michigan's JV team way back in 1928, a 33-0 season ending loss for the Rockets.
So the game this Saturday will be the first meeting between the Rockets and Wolverines. It's a one game deal, and Toledo will receive a $500,000 check to make the short trip to Ann Arbor to take on the Wolverines.
Michigan is 2-3 on the season after a 45-20 loss at home to
Illinois
last week. Rich Rodriquez is in his first season as the head coach at Michigan. He is 107-65-2 overall in his head coaching career.
Toledo is 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the Mid-American Conference this season. Tom Amstutz is in his 8th season as the head coach at Toledo and is 56-36 overall.
Toledo is trying to snap a three game losing streak, all three games were at home, but it will be tough against the Wolverines. Michigan has never lost to a Mid-American Conference opponent.
The game is scheduled for a Noon kickoff and will be aired live on the Big Ten Network.
