, OH Saturday night for a conference matchup between Toledo and Ball State. Toledo (1-3 overall, 1-0 MAC) hosts Ball State (5-0 overall, 2-0 MAC) in a key West Division showdown.
The all-time series is deadlocked, 16-16-1, but Ball state has won two straight games over Toledo.
The cardinals are led by QB
Nate Davis
and RB
MiQuale Lewis
on offense, and safety
Sean Baker
and linebacker BJ Hill on defense.
Saturday is Toledo's homecoming game, which should provide for a nice crowd and a great atmosphere.
Toledo is 51-8 at home since 2000, but has lost two straight games in the Glass Bowl in 2008. Two weeks ago Toledo lost a heartbreaker, 55-54 in double overtime to
Fresno State
. The loss seemed to have taken the wind out of their sails, as they lost to FIU 35-16 last weekend.
Toledo is going to need a great effort and nearly perfect execution if they are going to defeat Ball State tomorrow night. The Cardinals just may be more talented than Fresno State, and certainly have one of the top quarterbacks in the country.
Ball State has had to deal with the loss of star wide receiver
Dante Love
, after he was seriously injured against
Indiana
. Love is paralyzed, and is not expected to ever be able to play football again. The cardinals rallied behind their injured star last week in defeating
Kent State
41-20.
At Rocket Digest, we give out our best wishes to Dante Love and his family as he works on getting better. We hope he can fully recover and live a full and complete life. I ask that everyone, Ball State fans and Toledo fans as well as anyone else reading this article, please take a moment of silence to show your support of Dante and his family as they work through this.
