Every Monday the Mid-American Conference has a teleconference with the head football coaches of all 13 conference schools and the media. Below are quotes from University of
Toledo
Head Coach Tom Amstutz and
Eastern Michigan
Head Coach Jeff Genyk during their portions of the teleconference.
Toledo Rockets Head Coach Tom Amstutz
On Saturday's game against Eastern Michigan
"It's a very important game for both of our teams, being a West Division conference team. We really need to improve and play at a higher level."
On the Eastern Michigan Offense
"They're very talented offensively and it all starts with their quarterback, who's a very versatile athlete that can run and throw. Their style of spread offense is going to put a lot of stress and strain on our defense. We're gonna have to match them up and play at a very high level."
On having goalline issues last week
"#1
Arizona
did a nice job in the redzone. They have a very strong defense, very aggressive. And also that is something we definitely are concerned with. When we get inside that 10 yard line we'd like to come away with 7 points. We got turned down twice and had to kick field goals, and that's something that's definitely gonna be an issue and we'll be working on this week."
On Eastern Michigan LB
Daniel Holtzclaw
"Daniel's an excellent football player. He's a First Team All-Conference returning player. We really respect his play. He's an outstanding football player. Very aggressive, excellent tackler. We're gonna have to know where he is on every snap. He's a player that our conference is very proud of."
Eastern Michigan Head Coach Jeff Genyk
On the Toledo Rockets
"Offensively the progress of Opelt has been significant. The receiving corp is going to be challenging. Defensively they've added some speed and talent that is going to be a challenge for our offense."
