Field Turf Installation Progress

Rocket Digest Managing Editor
Posted Aug 24, 2008

Work on the new Field Turf installation at the Glass Bowl in nearing complete. Rocket Digest reporter Karl Rofkar managed to get a few shots of the progress during the past week.

We've all grown accustomed to the NeXturf field surface that was installed in the Glass Bowl before the 2001 football season. The field was very slippery and unforgiving though, and it was time for a change to a new playing surface.

The University of Toledo decided to install Field Turf in time for the 2008 football season, and Rocket Digest reporter Karl Rofkar got a few pictures while the crew was laying down the new turf this past week.

Notice the differences in the new turf, as compared to the NeXturf in the picture above. Alternating shades of green every five yards, and blue end zones are the biggest changes to your eye. To the football players, the Field Turf surface will be a more forgiving field that should result in less injuries.
