Rockets Advance in MAC Tourney

Toledo knocked off arch-rival Bowling Green 52-48 in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament today. The win advances Toledo to play #1 seed Kent State tomorrow night at 7:00PM.

It wasn't pretty, but the Toledo Rockets defeated arch-rival Bowling Green 52-48 in the first round of the Mid-American Conference men's basketball tournament earlier today.

Jonathon Amos led the Rockets with 15 points, while Tyrone Kent added 12 points and Jerrah Young chipped in with 11 points.

Toledo led 23-21 at halftime.

The Rockets shot just 33% from the field and was just 1 for 17 from behind the three point line, but forced 17 turnovers with 11 of them steals.

Bowling Green didn't help their cause by shooting just 38% from the field and 45% from the free throw line.

Toledo had a big edge in foul shot attempts, with 26 free throw attempts to just 11 for Bowling Green. Toledo was called for just 10 fouls in the game compared to 21 personal fouls called on Bowling Green players.

The Rockets will take on #1 seeded Kent State in the 2nd round of the MAC Tournament tomorrow night at 7:00PM in a game that will be televised on FSN Ohio. Kent State had a bye in the first round as the MAC's regular season champion.
