Toledo fell to 2-2 in conference play after a 75-62 setback at Western Michigan on Saturday. The Rockets were led by Ty Kent's 18 points. Ridley Johnson also scored 16 points, and Jonathon Amos recorded his first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Playing away from Savage Hall equated to another road loss for the
Toledo
Rockets men's basketball team. The Rockets lost at
Western Michigan
by a score of 75-62 on Saturday. The loss drops Toledo a game behind the Western Michigan Broncos in the West Division standings with a 2-2 conference record.
Ty Kent led the Rockets with 18 points and Ridley Johnson added 16, but Jonathon Amos had one of his best games as a Rocket. Amos recorded his first collegiate double-double with 14 points and a career high 10 rebounds.
Toledo made a season high 11 baskets from three point land as they shot 47.8% from behind the arc.
The Rockets also did well from the free throw line, a problem spot earlier in the year. Toledo was 13 of 15 from the charity stripe. The problem was that Western Michigan went to the foul line 32 times, more than doubling Toledo's trips to the foul line.
Toledo trailed 32-27 at halftime. Despite shooting 54.5% from three point land in the first half, the Rockets were just 34.5% on total field goals.
In the 2nd half it got even worse, as the Rockets shot just 29% from the field, despite 41.7% from behind the arc.
Toledo shot just 31.7% from the field for the game, compared to Western Michigan's 44.9% for the game.
The Rockets now travel to Ypsilanti, MI on Tuesday night to take on the
Eastern Michigan
Eagles. Eastern Michigan is tied with Toledo in 2nd place in the MAC West at 2-2. The Eagles lost at
Ball State
64-60 earlier today.
