Three Rockets Invited to All-Star Games

Three University of Toledo seniors will participate in collegiate All-Star games over the next two weekends. The Hula Bowl is this weekend, and the East-West Shrine Game is next weekend. So which Rockets will be participating in these games?

Three University of Toledo football players will participate in collegiate All-Star games over the next two weekends.

Senior running back Jalen Parmele and senior punter Brett Kern have both been selected for the East roster at the Hula Bowl to be played this weekend in Honolulu, HI.

Jalen Parmele rushed for 1,511 yards as a senior in 2007. He is 4th on the school career rushing list with 3,119 yards rushing. Parmele was named 1st Team All-MAC the last two seasons.

Brett Kern was one of three finalist for the 2007 Ray Guy Award, given out to the nation's top punter. He averaged 46.1 yards per punt as a senior this past season, 2nd best average in the country. He was named the MAC Special Teams Player of the Year and also earned 3rd Team All-America honors by the Associated Press and

Then on Saturday, January 19th, Brett Kern will join offensive tackle John Greco on the East roster for the East-West Shrine Game in Houston, TX.

John Greco is a three-time All-MAC performer that has started for Toledo for four consecutive seasons. Greco was named to the 2006 and 2007 Lombardi Award "watch lists" given to the nation's best down lineman/linebacker.

All three Rocket seniors will be looking to show off their skills for NFL scouts. ESPN's Mel Kiper has listed John Greco as a mid-round draft pick for the NFL draft in April, and Jalen Parmele and Brett Kern also figure to have a chance to be drafted in the later rounds.
