Rockets Looking at South Dakota Punter

With the graduation of punter Brett Kern, a 2007 Ray Guy Award finalist, head coach Tom Amstutz and his Rocket coaching staff are in search of a new punter to take over the reigns for 2008. The search has found its way to South Dakota, where the Rockets are pursuing one of the nation's best punting prospects for the 2008 recruiting class.

Punter Kyle Martens swept 1st Team All Conference and 1st Team All state honors in the state of South Dakota this past season and is rated the 7th best punting prospect in the nation by the Scout Recruiting Service. The 6-6, 182 pounder from Spearfish, SD averaged 43.2 yards per punt as a senior in high school in 2007. He also averaged 69 yards per kickoff and booted 90% of his kickoffs...
