Blaine Schafer is a two-time Indiana 4A All-State offensive lineman from Plymouth High School. He was chosen to the Cincinnati All-Combine team after participating in the Scout.com All-American combine this past summer. Rocket assistant coach Doug Downing was at Blaine's school last week to talk to him about Toledo.
Blaine Schafer
was All-Conference and All-State as a junior offensive tackle in 2006. Then in the summer he was chosen to the Cincinnati All-Combine team after participating in the Scout.com All-American combine. That sparked interest from MAC and Big Ten schools.
As a senior in 2007 he was named Indiana 4A First-Team All-State as an offensive lineman.
Schafer held offers from

, and

when
Toledo
recruiting coordinator Doug Downing visited him at his high school last week. Blaine left that meeting with coach Downing with an offer from Toledo.
Rocket Digest talked to Blaine's coach at Plymouth High School, John Barron, a couple of days ago. Coach Barron said, "Toledo just came in the picture last week." When a school's recruiting coordinator makes a school visit, you know they are serious and this was no different. Coach Barron added, "yes, Toledo is very interested."
Last night Rocket Digest caught up with Blaine to see how his recruitment has gone. "I have offers from Bowling Green, Ball State, Western Michigan, and Toledo," said Blaine. He added, "Toledo just offered me last week when they came into my school to see me."
Blaine says that he doesn't have a favorite at this time. "It is down to those four schools, but I won't have a favorite until I have visited all of them first," said Schafer. He already visited Western Michigan last week. This Friday and Saturday he is visiting Bowling Green, and then on Sunday and Monday he will visit Toledo. Next weekend he will visit Ball State. At that time he will sit down and start to sort out which school will win his services.
Blaine sights three strengths on the football field. "My footwork and my athletic ability are big," says Blaine. He added, "I play basketball too and that keeps me very athletic. I also don't like to lose at anything, so my competitiveness is a strength."
Recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Doug Downing is recruiting Blaine for Toledo. He is being recruited as an offensive tackle.
Check back with Rocket Digest in the coming days as we keep you updated on Blaine's recruitment.
