The Lady Rockets seem to be turning the corner this year. A 69-43 non-conference smackdown of Detroit last night is another step in the right direction for the women's basketball team, who has now improved to 3-3 on the season. Toledo was led by sophomore Lisa Johnson's 14 points and 10 rebounds despite coming off the bench. The Sylvania, OH native (Northview High School) shot 60% from the field and recorded the first double-double in her college career. Sophomore Allie Clifton had a game-high 15 points for the Lady Rockets. Senior Ta'Yani Clark also scored in double figures with 13 points. The Lady Rockets led 33-19 at halftime and never looked back. Toledo's bench outscored Detroit's bench 32-19. Another key stat in the game was rebounding, with the Lady Rockets outrebounding Detroit 51-39. A nice crowd of 1,476 fans made it to Savage Hall to watch the Lady Rockets improve to 3-0 at home this season. The Lady Rockets will next travel to Peoria, IL to take on Bradley on Saturday, December 8th. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00pm Toledo time. |
