Rockets Fall to #11 Pittsburgh

After opening the season with an impressive victory over Missouri State, Toledo dropped their sixth straight today with a 78-52 loss to the 11th ranked Pittsburgh Panthers. Junior Tyrone Kent led the way for the Rockets with 22 points in a losing effort.

Toledo opened a 11-10 lead early in the first half, but #11 Pittsburgh outscored Toledo 44-24 in the 2nd half to beat the Rockets 78-52 earlier today.

Junior Tyrone Kent led the Rockets (1-6) with 22 points, the only Rocket in double digits. However, once again the Rockets shot the ball poorly. Toledo shot 34.5% from the field for the game, but were just 8 of 30 (26.7%) in the 2nd half.

Junior guard Jonathon Amos led the team with 8 rebounds and was 2nd in scoring with 8 points. Senior forward Jerrah Young added 5 points and 4 rebounds for Toledo.

Junior guard Ridley Johnson scored 5 points, but was just 2 of 11 from the field. Freshman guard Corey Bingham had 6 points and 2 rebounds for the Rockets.

Off the bench, freshman Muhammed Lo contributed 4 points and 3 rebounds in 14 minutes of playing time. Freshman Justin Anyijong added 2 points and 1 rebound in 13 minutes off the bench. Junior Anthony Byrd also saw playing time, but did not score.

The win was Pittsburgh's fourth straight by 26 or more points. Toledo's next game is at Houston on Tuesday night.
