The Rockets will try to get back into the win column tonight when they go on the road for the first time this season against Old Dominion. | |||

The defending Mid-American Conference champions looked impressive in their 57-53 victory over Missouri State last week. And despite a terrible start on Tuesday against Vanderbilt, the Rockets fought back and made it a close game in a 77-70 loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores. However, those were both home games and Toledo is known for playing well at home. The Rockets hold a 47-5 record in home games since the start of the 2003-04 campaign. Tonight will be a different story though. The Rockets travel to Norfolk, VA to take on the Old Dominion Monarchs. Old Dominion beat Toledo 73-70 last season in a game played at Savage Hall. In their only game played this season, Old Dominion won 64-54 against South Carolina State. The Monarchs are led by senior guard Abdi Lidonde, who scored 20 points in their season opener. The scary part for an undersized Toledo squad is that Old Dominion outrebounded South Carolina State 49-34 and three different Monarchs had 8 or more rebounds in the game. Toledo is led by juniors Ty Kent, Jonathon Amos, and Ridley Johnson. Rounding out the UT starting lineup should be senior Jerrah Young and freshman Justin Anyijong. The Rockets will hope to use their speed and defensive skills to force turnovers. Toledo forced 23 turnovers against Missouri State and 18 turnovers against Vanderbilt. The game is set to tip-off at 7:00pm. It will be televised on WSKY TV4, an Independent television station for the Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Hampton Roads area of Virginia, and the Outer Banks region of North Carolina. WSPD 1370 in Toledo will air the game on radio like usual. Mark Beier and Jay Lehman will announce the game. |
