MSU adds a 2014 quarterback in Kuhns

Baltimore area quarterback accepts walk-on spot to fill quarterback spot for 2014 after Chris Durkin decommitted in December.

Michigan State added what figures to be the final piece to the 2014 recruiting class Monday.

Baltimore Calvert Hill quarterback Colar Kuhns accepted a walk-on spot to become a Spartan, filling the need for a signal caller. A source informed SpartanDigest.com a few weeks ago that a visit was in the works during spring football to get Kuhns on campus and lock him up as a preferred walk-on.

The 6-foot-2, 200 pound Kuhns was committed to Cornell, which he picked over an offer from Toledo.

The class was lacking a quarterback after Youngstown (Ohio) Ursuline's Chris Durkin decommitted from Michigan State on Dec. 16 and committed to Virginia Tech.

Kuhns posted on his Facebook on Monday night saying he committed to Michigan State:

"Life is a marathon, not a race…a lesson I learned through out the recruiting process. I could not be more excited to pursue my dream of playing quarterback in the big ten for the best program in the country-Michigan State. I want to thank God for continuing to be there in my most trying moments, and for the opportunity He has blessed me with. I cannot describe how blessed and appreciative I am of all of my family, both near and far, who have cultured and instilled the values that will carry me through life. I want to thank trainers Alan Harris, Troy Jones and Position coach Chris Baucia for the continued effort to help me develop both physically and mentally, on and off the field. Thanks to all friends who continually support both my decisions and aspirations. Although the journey ahead will be difficult, I am confident that I am ready and willing to master every obstacle. I could not be happier to say that I am a SPARTAN- Go Green, Go White- Time to go to work..."
