Fritts Lands First Offer

Mentor junior wide receiver Brandon Fritts has been turning heads in Ohio since starting as a sophomore. He is drawing recruiting attention, and Wednesday evening learned of his his first offer.

Wednesday evening saw Mentor wide receiver Brandon Fritts learn of his first offer, the first for one of Ohio's top 2014 prospects.

"I was offered by Toledo and I just found out today at practice," Fritts stated. "Toledo came in to the school on Monday to watch our practice, and today they let my coach know they were offering."

"It is great to have that first offer, but I really don't know too much about them," he added. "I've never been there for a game yet, but I'm looking forward to checking them out. They run a spread offense, similar to what we run, and that's appealing."

With Mentor heading into the Ohio State playoffs, Fritts will not be able to take any visits soon. Earlier, he visited Notre Dame, West Virginia, Michigan State and Michigan.

"I'm going to concentrate on the playoffs right now, and I'm not going to be into the recruiting stuff that much in the next few weeks," he explained. "I'm very relieved to have the first offer, but I owe it to my team to give all I have to this season."

"I have basketball right after football, so I really won't look at football recruiting too much until next spring," Fritts said. "I'm not sure about visits next spring, or camps, but I'm sure there will be both."

As a two-year starter in one of Ohio's more high-powered offenses, Fritts is a top prospect. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound, athlete could play either wide receiver or tight end at the next level.
