Ohio Tight End Gets First Offer

Back in July we said Middletown (Ohio) Fenwick tight end Leo Haenni was a prospect to follow. This week he earned his first scholarship offer and gives us the latest on other programs talking with him.

During the course of his high school career Leo Haenni has been the ultimate team player lining up wherever he was needed. While that helped his team have success, it may have slowed college programs from offering him a scholarship.

On Monday, Haenni ended the scholarship drought picking up his first offer.

"I spoke with (assistant) coach (John) Pont on Monday," said Haenni. "He told me I had an offer. It's big and feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I have not been up to Akron as I went to their satellite camp at Lakota West High School. But I plan on getting up there real soon."

When could Haenni look to make that visit?

"I'm going to try and get up to a game and then also visit the academic side of the school," said Haenni.

While extremely excited about his offer from the Zips, Haenni is also hearing from two other programs.

"I'm hearing from Toledo and Cincinnati mostly," said Haenni. "I've visited Toledo and was at Cincinnati's game against Pittsburgh."

FOX Sports NEXT will continue to stay in contact with Haenni as he ponders his offer from Akron and hears from other programs.
