Johnson Is a Bearcat

Kenston High (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) three-star linebacker Percy Johnson has decided to stay in-state, and may soon have a friend join him.

Percy Johnson has become the latest member of the Cincinnati recruiting class, committing to the Bearcats on Sunday.

The 6'0, 215-lb linebacker had offers from Ohio, Toledo, Akron and Bowling Green as well, but said UC had the most to offer him.

"You know, the academics are great and they have my major," he explained. "I want to go into physical therapy. They also have a great defensive coordinator. He's a good guy. I really like my position coach, the linebackers coach, too. They have great potential even though they had a down year. I think it's a good opportunity to come in, get some play and compete."

Johnson believes he will have a chance to push for time right away and the Bearcats have told him he will be afforded that opportunity.

"They said I have a chance to compete. My body is mature. They said I just have to prove my mental stuff, which I think is pretty good."

Johnson's former teammate at Madison High in Michigan, Devonte Snyder, also has an offer from Cincinnati and Johnson says the two should be reunited in college.

"Most definitely. I think that will happen very soon."

Most of all, this Detroit native, who has bounced around, is happy to have found a home.

"It feels really good. I've had some down moments, got injured, but I'm going to next level and looking forward to proving myself again, trying to get better and getting my degree at the same time."
